ORU SHELF

This shelf was created in a competition for the company “OUT - Objekte unserer Tage”.

A sheet metal shelf that, in addition to its well-known function, also has a decorative aspect.

A few previous drafts below:

ORU

The final shelf:

The idea of the name for the shelf is based on the Japanese series of OUT (TAKAHASHI chair, WASEKI pillow) and Origami (the famous paper folding art of Japan).

Oru : "folding” Kami : "paper”

And because of this term also the basic idea of creating the shelf from a surface with four bends into a three-dimensional object was born.

on the left side is a compartment for magazines, newspapers etc.

on the right side you can find a hidden storage place and a raised shelf for objects to be presented

Two discreet folds on the fronts lend tension to the minimalist design and echo the light paper character.

AO DAI-LY

This project is a new interpretation of the vietnamese national costume áo dài.

Why do we feel dressed up in national costumes most of the time?Is it possible to wear them in your daily life and thus carry a piece of culture with you without appearing costumed?

With these questions in mind, the concept of AO DAI-LY (wordplay: extension Ao Dai to daily) was born. In contrast to the fabrics of the original, which are ostentatious, very colourful and patterned, the idea was to go in the monochrome direction.

The neutral colour choices should be complemented with the help of fine, shiny and transparent fabric details (satin, organza) to enhance the festive character of the áo dài. The national costume in everyday life which also works well as evening wear.

Áo Dài (transl.: long top) consists of a knee- or ankle-length silk dress slit up above the hips on both sides, with long and loose silk trousers usually worn as the bottom.

Look 1: is following the traditional dress pattern of the áo dài in black and looser fit, the bluish satin ribbon for a pop of color - with the asymmetrical organza vest you get the more festive evening wear (Look1.1)

Look 2: is like the first look very true to the traditional cut but short-sleeved and also with the bluish satin ribbon

Look 3: is an interpretation of the áo dài as a light grey two piece-set, consisting of a cropped vest and midi skirt, each piece can also be worn on their own

Look 4: is based on the dress pattern for the traditional male áo dài: a long dark grey vest

Look 5: is the item of look 4 transformed into a dress with a ribbon belt to accentuate the waist

Look 6: is similar to the vest in look 4 but shorter and in black, it can be worn as a tank top or a slipover over long sleeved tops on colder days - for the evening look a midi skirt in organza can be tied around the waist (Look 6.1)
